Silver City Drilling’s Safety Management Plan provides a broad description of our commitment to safety. This Plan is an integral part of Silver City Drilling complete operational safety management process, and as such is assimilated into the procedures and activities of Silver City Drilling’s core business activities
This Safety Management Plan has been developed to comply with the Mines Inspection Act 1901 (General Rule 2000, Section 9) and the Mines Inspection Regulation 1999, and is subject to continuous review by the Silver City Drilling management team
The Silver City Drilling Safety Management Plan consists of 26 Core Elements.
These Core Elements are designed to comply with relevant Australian and International Standards
Clear roles and accountabilities are identified within Silver City Drilling Management System with direct reference to all employees, supervisors, contractors and the director/manager
Policies
All policies at Silver City Drilling are approved by the management team and signed by the Director – these are prominently displayed at all worksites
Reviews are conducted on all policies to ensure currency and reconfirm management commitment
Fitness for Work
Silver City Drilling is a 24 hour a day operation, and like many industries, requires its employees to work shift work so it can operate successfully
Silver City Drilling’s philosophy on Fitness for Work is designed to contribute to the well being of all employees by creating an environment of awareness and support
Fitness for Work encompasses drugs and alcohol policy, physical fitness, pre-existing conditions, fatigue, fitness for duty and rehabilitation.
Our goal is to ensure all personnel who work for Silver City Drilling are fit to perform the tasks they are assigned
Training
Silver City Drilling has a duty of care to provide training to enable employees to perform their work in a manner such as they are able to identify and remove, or reduce, the risk of all hazards.
All new employees are trained in the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety for Silver City Drilling through attendance at the site common induction.
This induction provides the basic information relating to safe work within Silver City Drilling operations
Further to this all employees, within the drilling profession, are trained to the competency level of being able to qualify and apply for National Accreditation in Drilling – Mineral Exploration
A Nationally Accredited workforce is of benefit to all parties i.e.
- The employee of Silver City Drilling will obtain a justly deserved qualification
- The client will be assured of safe and competent drilling teams working on their worksite
Safe Work Procedures
Safe Work Procedures are used at Silver City Drilling to ensure that tasks and work practices are performed in a safe manner with minimal risk associated with all activities
Safe Work Procedures are written guidelines for work procedures where a potential hazard exists
All Silver City Drilling employees are encouraged to assist in the development of Safe Work Procedures, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as a method to mitigate hazards within the job tasks
All Safe Work Procedures are developed to comply with the policies and guidelines in the Safety Management Plan
Safe Work Procedures are approved at management level, and all existing Safe Work procedures are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure relevance to current work methods and materials |
